At the Google I/O 2025 conference, Google announced a groundbreaking feature for video meetings in Google Meet. Users will now be able to access automatic translation from Spanish to English in real-time with minimal delay.

According to Google, this new translation technology is very close to natural conversation, as it not only conveys the essence of what is said but also retains the tone, rhythm of speech, and even the facial expressions of the speakers. This will greatly enhance the quality of international video meetings, allowing participants to communicate in their native language while AI handles all the complex tasks.

Up until now, Meet users could only rely on live captions for translation, which required them to read text while conversing. The new feature will allow users to fully focus on communication without the need to divert their attention to text prompts.

The feature is currently available in beta for subscribers of the Google AI Pro and Ultra plans. It is expected to become available to corporate users later this year as part of early testing. Google is also planning to expand support for additional languages in the coming weeks.
