Apple has announced plans to allow users in the European Union to select alternative voice assistants, as reported by Bloomberg. This means that users will have the option to replace Siri with alternatives like Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.

Journalists Mark Gurman and Drake Bennett indicate that this change will affect several software platforms, likely including iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

This move is a response from Apple to new regulatory requirements imposed by the European Union, which compel the company to open its ecosystems to third-party solutions.

Previously, Apple allowed European users to set third-party applications as default for browsers, navigation, messaging, and other functions.
