The Turkish company Baykar has introduced the upgraded version of its renowned drone, the Bayraktar TB2, now labeled as Bayraktar TB2T-AI. According to ArmyInform, the new drone has already completed initial operational tests and set several records.
This upgrade includes a new turboprop engine and the integration of advanced artificial intelligence systems, significantly improving the UAV's flight performance, autonomy, and combat capabilities. The drone features three new computers equipped with advanced AI, enabling it to autonomously detect and identify targets.
The Bayraktar TB2T-AI can execute autonomous takeoffs and landings, visually recognize runways, determine optimal flight paths, and conduct dynamic route planning. With its sophisticated AI systems, it can navigate even in challenging electronic warfare conditions. In emergency scenarios, the drone’s intelligent system can automatically return to base, greatly enhancing its survivability.
Reports indicate that this UAV can ascend to altitudes over 9000 meters in less than 30 minutes, and during recent tests, it achieved a height of 9250 meters. Despite the increased takeoff weight, it has extended its flight endurance to 27 hours. Other improvements include:
- payload increased by 50-100% from the previous 100 kilograms;
- maximum speed increased from 220 to 300 km/h;
- satellite communication system extends control range from 150 km to over 1000 km;
Regarding its combat payload, the Bayraktar TB2T-AI can carry laser-guided MAM-C bombs and MAM-L munitions weighing 22 kg with a range of 15 km. The latest addition to its arsenal is the miniature cruise missile "Kemanquesh," capable of neutralizing threats at distances of 200 km.
To date, Baykar has produced around 800 units of this drone type, with exports to 36 countries worldwide. The production capacity allows for one drone to be manufactured per day.
With its new powerful engine, high speed, and intelligent autonomous flight capabilities, the Bayraktar TB2T-AI is poised to become a leading UAV in its class.
