Microsoft has announced significant updates to its Authenticator app.

Starting from June 2025, the app will no longer support password storage, and from July, the autofill feature will become unavailable. By August, saved passwords will also be inaccessible. This means that all generated passwords will be deleted, and access to saved passwords and autofill will only be available through the Microsoft Edge browser. However, Authenticator will continue to support access keys.

Users are advised to back up all passwords to prevent losing access to important accounts, such as email and banking services. Additionally, all payment information will be removed from the app starting in July.

For autofilling passwords, Microsoft also suggests using alternative password managers like Google Password Manager or iCloud Keychain.
