Ukrainian fencer Alina Dmytruk has reached the semi-finals of the cadet world fencing championship taking place in China.

In the quarter-finals, the 16-year-old from Lviv triumphed over South Korean fencer Lee Rae Na with a score of 15:8, ensuring at least a bronze medal for herself.

In the match for a place in the final, Alina will face Wu Haidi from Hong Kong, who narrowly defeated another Ukrainian fencer, debutant Valeria Bilous-Hrydziak, in the previous round (15:14).

Earlier, Maxim Perchuk won the first medal for Ukraine at the championship, claiming bronze.
