Renowned Ukrainian boxer Alexander Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs) is confident in his ability to once again become the absolute world champion. He made this statement during the annual World Boxing Council (WBC) convention in Thailand.
"I am thrilled to be here. Do I have four belts? Now three. Many people say, 'You are not the absolute champion.' Okay, that’s temporary.
I have four belts, but my favorite will always be green. Mauricio, thank you for everything you do. I really like Thailand. This is my first time here, but I will definitely come back, thank you," Usyk said.
It’s worth noting that in July, Usyk knocked out Dubois and became the absolute world champion in the heavyweight division (over 90.72 kg) for the second time. He became the first since Muhammad Ali to achieve this milestone.
In November, the Ukrainian relinquished his WBO title, losing his status as absolute champion. World Boxing Organization President Gustavo Olivieri responded to this decision. The new titleholder became British boxer Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KOs).
