The European Judo Championships for athletes under 23 took place in Chisinau (Moldova) from October 31 to November 2. Over 300 participants from 37 countries competed in the event.
The Ukrainian team was represented by a full squad of 18 athletes – nine men and nine women. By the end of the competition, Ukrainian judokas made it to the podium twice.
Olga Tsymko earned a silver medal in the 70 kg weight category, losing in the final to a competitor from Sweden. This was her first medal at the European Championships for youth.
The Ukrainian team also secured a bronze in the mixed team event, confidently defeating the Portuguese team with a score of 4:1. The medal-winning team included Said-Magomed Khalidov, Denis Doktorov, Yaroslav Omelyanchenko, Mykola Grybik, Inna Shynkarenko, Serhiy Sokyrko, Daria Boychenko, Anna Oliynyk-Korniyko, and Anna Kazakova.
