In Novi Sad, Serbia, the World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling for athletes under 23 is currently taking place. Among the representatives of Ukraine is the Kyiv resident Egor Yakushenko, competing in the 97 kg category, who has won a gold medal.
Egor started in the 1/8 finals, defeating Georgian wrestler Luka Gabisonia. In the quarter-finals, he overcame neutral athlete Abubakar Khaslakhonov. In the semi-finals, Yakushenko triumphed over Estonian Richard Karelson.
In the final, Egor faced Kazakh Yusuf Matiev and claimed victory as well.
Thus, Egor Yakushenko is the World Champion in Greco-Roman wrestling for athletes under 23 years old.
It is worth noting that in August, he also clinched gold among athletes under 20. Egor Yakushenko trains under coach Mykola Yelarinov at the Sports Club «Olympiets» in the Desnyansky district.
