Renowned Ukrainian athlete Yaroslava Mahuchikh has turned down a lucrative offer to change her sports nationality.

This was reported by the Finnish publication Yle.

According to their information, Qatar attempted to lure the world record holder and Olympic champion from Paris. Representatives of this country offered Mahuchikh and her coach Tetiana Stepanova a substantial amount of money for her to compete under the Qatari flag. However, this proposal was rejected.

"Many countries would like us to compete for them. We were in Qatar, and the locals offer big money for us to relocate, but we... We love our city and don’t want to stay abroad,"  – stated Stepanova.

Recently, Mahuchikh was included in the Ukrainian national team for the World Championship 2025, which will take place in Tokyo from September 13 to 21.
