The World Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling for athletes under 20 years old is taking place in Samokov, Bulgaria. Representing Ukraine, Egor Yakushenko has successfully defended his championship title.
In his opening match, Egor defeated the neutral athlete Pavlo Savytskyi. He then went on to eliminate the Uzbek Amirhon Berdikulov and the Polish wrestler Sebastian Varchol. In the semifinals, Egor overcame the German Darius Kiefer and in the finals, he triumphed over the Iranian Hadi Akbar Seydi Avendi.
Thus, Egor Yakushenko has become the world champion in Greco-Roman wrestling for the second consecutive time. In 2024, he also clinched the gold medal. Egor trains at the Olympiets Sports Club in the Desnianskyi district of Kyiv under the guidance of coach Mykola Yelarinov.
