Renowned Ukrainian canoeist Lyudmila Luzan has become the world champion in 2025 in her specialty – canoe single at the 500-meter distance.
In the final race, she outpaced Canadian athlete Katie Vincent and Spanish competitor Maria Cobrer.
The final results were as follows:
- Lyudmila Luzan (Ukraine) – 2:01.27
- Katie Vincent (Canada) – 2:02.5
- Maria Cobrer (Spain) – 2:04.73
This victory marks Luzan's sixth gold medal at world championships over her career and her second at the current world event in Italy. On Friday, August 22, she also triumphed alongside Irina Fedoriv in the canoe double event at the 500-meter distance.
It's worth noting that in June, Luzan and Fedoriv secured a silver medal at the European Championship in the same event – the 500 meters in canoe doubles.
