The World Canoeing Championship is underway in Milan, where Ukrainian athletes are making their mark in the race for medals.

A total of 27 athletes representing Ukraine are competing in all 24 event categories at the 2025 ICF CANOE SPRINT & PARACANOE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.

On August 20, the first day of the competition, our paddlers participated in 15 events, successfully reaching the finals in three:

  • Canoe Singles, Women, 500 m — Liudmyla Luzan.
  • Canoe Doubles, Women, 200 m — Liudmyla Luzan, Iryna Fedoriv.
  • KL2 Para Canoe, Women, 200 m — Nataliia Lahutenko.

In an additional 12 events, the Ukrainians advanced to the semifinals as well.

On the morning of August 21, Ukrainian participants competed in six heats, successfully qualifying for the semifinals in five:

  • Canoe Singles, Women, 200 m — Liudmyla Luzan.
  • Kayak Singles, Women, 200 m — Ivanna Diachenko.
  • Kayak Singles, Men, 500 m — Oleg Kukharik.
  • Canoe Doubles, Men, 500 m — Taras Mazovskyi, Andrii Ryabachok.
  • Kayak Doubles, Women, 500 m — Diana Rybak, Snihana Stalynova.
