The final competitive day of the XII World Games 2025 has concluded in Chengdu, China.
The Ukrainian team achieved an impressive third place in the overall medal standings, competing against top athletes in sports not included in the Olympic program, according to Ukrinform.
Ukrainian athletes won a total of 44 medals in China (16 gold, 14 silver, and 14 bronze). The most medals for Ukraine were earned in powerlifting - 10 (2 gold, 5 silver, 3 bronze), combat sambo - 6 (4 gold, 0 silver, 2 bronze), and kickboxing - 4 (2 gold, 0 silver, 2 bronze).
This marks the second consecutive time our team has finished third at the World Games; the first was in 2022 in Birmingham, USA.
China topped the overall medal table with 64 medals (36 gold, 17 silver, 1 bronze), followed by Germany with 45 medals (17 gold, 14 silver, 14 bronze).
The top five countries also included Italy with 57 medals (13 gold, 25 silver, 19 bronze) and France with 38 medals (11 gold, 11 silver, 16 bronze).
In total, over 4000 athletes from 115 countries competed in the World Games 2025, marking the largest number of nations in the history of these events. For the first time, teams from Armenia, Benin, Bermuda, Cameroon, Guinea, Kenya, and Myanmar joined the competition.
Ninety-nine Ukrainian athletes competed in 20 sports, including combat sambo, water skiing, billiards, dragon boat racing, jiu-jitsu, WAKO kickboxing, powerlifting, underwater sports, squash, aerobics, acrobatics, orienteering, Muay Thai, dance sport, wushu, cheerleading, breaking, climbing, karate, and trampoline (acrobatic track) jumping.
