On August 2, 2025, Locomotive Stadium in Kyiv celebrated its 100th anniversary. Established in 1925, it became a venue for railway workers' competitions and a symbol of sports culture. Ten years post-opening, the arena was named — «Locomotive».

Alexander Pertzovsky, the general director of the company, announced this.

In honor of the anniversary, a children's tournament was held for the young athletes of Locomotive club born between 2015-2018. The teams received new uniforms gifted by the Paris mayor, with Mayor Anne Hidalgo herself becoming a fan of the Kyiv club.

«Locomotive» is home to the oldest sports club in Ukraine with a rich history:

  • over 1500 alumni, including ten children from displaced families;
  • 10 Olympic champions;
  • numerous European and World champions;
  • over 200 wins in prestigious tournaments;
  • a professional football team competing in the Second League.

In January 2024, the stadium faced significant damage: Russian missiles destroyed the sports hall, locker rooms, and all equipment. On the same day, American philanthropist and club partner Howard Buffett assured that the stadium would be fully rebuilt, transforming it into a comprehensive sports complex.

Currently, planning and research work is ongoing, while construction of a second club location in Chokolivka is nearing completion.

All necessary permits have been obtained, so the first phase of reconstruction will soon begin: revitalization of the football field, erection of a new stand, refurbishment of locker rooms, referee spaces, and the creation of an urban park.
