The success of Nikita Koshman at the international competition was reported by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Kyiv City State Administration.

The path to the podium was challenging: Nikita started his journey from the 1/32 finals, defeating several strong opponents, including tournament favorites and an Olympic champion. His confidence, technique, and fighting spirit serve as an example for the entire sports community.

"This medal is a significant achievement for Kyiv's fencing school and further confirmation that Ukrainian athletes represent our country with honor on the global stage," stated the Department. — "This year’s world championship in Tbilisi was special: the Ukrainian team won three medals — gold and two bronzes, and Nikita is among these heroes."

At the National University of Physical Education and Sports, it was noted that Nikita Koshman is a third-year student of the Department of Martial Arts.

23-year-old Nikita Koshman from Kyiv became the fifth Ukrainian fencer to reach an individual podium in the history of world championships, following in the footsteps of Maksym Khorost, Bohdan Nikishin, Roman Svičkar, and Ihor Reyzlin.

Nikita Koshman (ranked No. 114 in the FIE world rankings), competing in individual events at the world championship for the first time, became the main sensation of the tournament in Tbilisi.

Having confidently advanced through the preliminary rounds, today in the main draw on his way to the podium, he first defeated Kasper Tafenaau (15:14), then forced the world No. 1, bronze medalist of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Mohamed El-Sayid to concede (14:11), and in the 1/8 finals overcame the European Games 2023 champion and two-time European vice-champion Tristan Tuelen (15:12). By defeating the current European vice-champion Matteo Galassi (15:13) in the quarter-finals, he secured a medal!

On the central strip of the championship, Koshman found himself among three Olympic champions: two Japanese, Koki Kano and Masaru Yamada, as well as Hungary's Gergely Siklos. It was to the latter that our athlete lost in the semi-final (9:15).

Prior to this, the highest achievement of the Kyiv sports school graduate, namely Ruslan Timoshenko and Mykhailo Podolskyi, was team medals at the World Cup (silver and bronze in 2022), and he is also a two-time medalist in the team event at the youth European Championships. In individual competitions at this level, Nikita's best result so far was 25th place at the Grand Prix in Cairo-2022.

Congratulations to the athlete, the coaching team, the family, and everyone who contributed to this success!
