Ukrainian cyclist Andriy Ponomar, representing the Mexican team Petrolike, made headlines at the famous one-day race Giro dell'Appennino by finishing in second place. The event took place on June 24, where athletes covered a distance of 203 km from Novi Ligure to Genoa.
Ponomar crossed the finish line in second place, losing to the renowned Italian cyclist from the XDS Astana team, Diego Ulissi, by 9 seconds. The top three was completed by another XDS Astana representative, Simone Velasco, who finished 14 seconds behind.
Another Ukrainian competitor, Kyrylo Tsarenko from Solution Tech Vini Fantini, also participated in the race, finishing in 21st place, 21 seconds behind the winner.
This result marks Ponomar's best performance since joining Petrolike in January this year.
