Dmitro Nikitin, the Ukrainian high jumper, won the gold medal at the Golden Spike international tournament held in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

Today, June 24, the 25-year-old athlete participated in the event, which is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour.

He was the sole representative of Ukraine in the men's high jump. His main competitor was Jan Štefela, the silver medalist from the indoor European Championships and a local favorite. The two were in a fierce contest for the gold medal.

Fortunately, Dmitro emerged victorious in this battle. Both athletes achieved the best result of the tournament, clearing a height of 2.24 meters. However, Nikitin cleared it on his first attempt, while Štefela needed three attempts.

Both competitors then tried to jump over 2.28 meters but were unsuccessful. Consequently, Dmitro Nikitin became the champion of the Continental Tour in Ostrava, while Štefela took home the silver medal. The bronze medal went to Italian Marco Fassino, who cleared 2.20 meters.
