On Wednesday, June 18, the Ukraine U-21 team played their third and ultimately final match at the Euro-2025, losing to their Dutch counterparts.

The match concluded with a convincing 2:0 victory for the team coached by Michael Reiziger.

The "Blue-Yellows" conceded their first goal in the 31st minute when Arseniy Batagov failed to clear the ball, allowing Van Bommel to assist Valente, who scored into the empty net of Ruslan Neshcheret.

Sadly, the efforts of the Ukrainian players, who had no chances at all, to quickly equalize came to nothing, and the team went into halftime trailing by a goal.

The second half didn't fare any better for Unai Melgosa's squad, who attempted long-range shots but missed the target. Moreover, in the 57th minute, Ukraine conceded a second goal. Once again, Van Bommel provided an assist with a brilliant through ball to Van Bergen, who evaded Mykhavko and lifted the ball over Neshcheret.

Substitutions followed, but they had no impact on the match's final outcome. A red card for an opponent with nine minutes left also failed to alter the scoreline. Ultimately, the Ukraine team finished third in their group, which does not grant them a place in the quarter-finals, where only the top two teams from each group advance.

The Netherlands had drawn with Finland (2:2) and lost to Denmark (1:2) in their previous two rounds, so Ukrainian players only needed to avoid defeat to progress to the quarter-finals.
