Ukrainian athlete Vadim Kravchuk claimed the silver medal at the "silver" series of the Continental Tour held in Kosice.

This event marked Kravchuk's first competition after participating in the Ukrainian team championship in athletics, where he finished third, trailing behind Dmytro Nikitin and Vladislav Lavskyi.

In Kosice, Kravchuk faced Lavskyi, who was making his international debut in 2025. The competition featured a distinguished lineup, including Euro-2022 silver medalist Tobias Potier, indoor Euro silver medalist Jan Steffela, as well as Mexican Edgar Rivera and Italians Marco Fassinotti and Manuel Lando.

How did the high jump competition unfold?

  • Lavskyi ended his participation at a height of 2.21 m, failing to clear it in any of his three attempts. In contrast, Kravchuk continued and cleared the bar on his second attempt.
  • The decisive height was 2.25 m, which Kravchuk and Steffela cleared on their third attempt, while four other jumpers, including Rivera, Fassinotti, Potier, and Bulgarian Tihomir Ivanov, were unsuccessful.
  • Kravchuk's battle for gold against Steffela ended in defeat, as the Czech cleared 2.28 m on his first attempt. After two failed attempts, Kravchuk raised the bar to 2.31 m but was also unable to clear it.
  • 2.25 meters matched Kravchuk's personal best of the season, having previously cleared this height twice: in June 2021 outdoors in Kyiv and in January 2024 indoors in Germany.
