36-year-old defenseman Alexey Melnikov will remain with the Kyiv Capitals hockey team.

The club officially announced this on its website.

"We are pleased to share that experienced defenseman Alexey Melnikov will continue to play for our team this upcoming season. His solid defensive plays last year were crucial for our stability and greatly aided our goalkeepers" – the statement reads.

The club emphasized that they rely on his skills, experience, and tenacity. In the 2024/2025 season, Melnikov recorded five assists to his name.

Kyiv Capitals lost to Kremenchuk in the final series of the Ukrainian championship after seven matches.
