Ukrainian fencer Daria Mironyuk has made it to the main draw of the Grand Prix event in Shanghai.

In the 1/64 round, she defeated a competitor from Hong Kong with a score of 12:7. Five athletes represented Ukraine at this stage, but four of them were unable to advance.

Alina Polozniuk lost to Camilla Mancini (8:15), Kim Ho Yon proved stronger than Kristina Petrova (10:15), and Kateryna Budenko faced a heavy defeat against Maria Teresa Dias (5:15). Olga Sopyt was defeated by Vladislava Penyushkina in the 1/128 round.

The main competition will take place on Sunday, May 18th, at 05:00 Kyiv time.

It's worth noting that at the end of 2024, Mironyuk won her first medal at the senior level, earning silver at the European Championship in Basel as part of the Ukrainian national team.

Earlier, it was reported that the international fencing federation allowed 'neutral' Russians and Belarusians to participate in team competitions.
