Kyiv and its surrounding areas have become the first to join the initiative of daily commemoration of fallen heroes at 09:00. This practice will be extended throughout the country.
This was reported by the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development via Telegram.
"The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine, together with communities and regions, is implementing the practice of halting vehicle traffic during the daily nationwide moment of silence at 09:00," the statement said.
In cities and villages of Kyiv region, traffic is already being stopped on central streets, and a similar order will be issued in the capital soon. Traffic on Khreshchatyk will be halted by the patrol police.
It is noted that earlier, the Ministry of Development, together with the NGO "Honor", presented a roadmap for implementing the moment of silence. This is a concise but detailed guide for local self-government bodies, containing step-by-step instructions for organizing the moment of silence, legislative justification, examples of communication with citizens and media, as well as ready-made solutions for various situations — from traffic halting algorithms to audio and video support.
At 09:00, the center of Kyiv stopped for the nationwide moment of silence, as reported by the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachenko, via Telegram.
According to him, "today at 09:00, the center of the capital stopped for a moment of silence in memory of all those killed by Russia."
Tkachenko thanked drivers, passersby, and activists who participated in this commemoration.
