The Kyiv Professional College of Applied Sciences has successfully established the Veteran Support Center, which has been operating for six months, serving as a platform for the reintegration of Ukraine's defenders.
During the celebration of the center's six-month anniversary, representatives from the Kyiv City Council attended, including the Commissioner for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Lesya Petrivska and the Commissioner for the Rights of War Veterans Stanislav Ryzhenkov.
Lesya Petrivska stated: «This center is all about humanity. No one asks who you were before the war or what happened to you. Here, people simply help, support, and encourage you to try new things. It’s essential to have a place where you are not pitied but believed in. I want veterans to feel at ease and secure here, just like everyone else, without being set apart».
As part of the event, a photo exhibition titled «Brave Faces» was presented, initiated by the «Doctors for Heroes» project, showcasing portraits of heroes who have sustained facial and head injuries.
Stanislav Ryzhenkov emphasized: «Returning from war is difficult. Finding yourself afterward is even harder. That's why places like the Veteran Development Center are particularly significant. New stories are born here: for instance, just yesterday, a veteran who received support at the college presented his first formula for his own perfume. This is about finding new footing».
