The capital hosted the launch of a new book that honors Ukrainian women who have consistently stood alongside men in the fight for Ukraine's independence.
With the support of the city authorities, the publishing house «Phoenix» has printed the novel «Kreshchena» by Lyudmyla Okhrimenko, based on the true story of medic Tetyana Teplyuk (call sign Kreshchena) from the 12th Special Purpose Brigade of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine «Azov».
«Today, we present this book to the community, made possible by the support of the Kyiv City Council within the framework of the civic society development program. This book tells the true military journey of our heroine, and we are always happy to publish stories about our heroes,» said Myroslava Smirnova, the director of the Department of Public Communications and a member of the Kyiv City Council (UDAR faction).
Myroslava Smirnova expressed gratitude to everyone involved in creating this book.
«Today, we are honored to have with us the heroine of this book — Ms. Tetyana Teplyuk. You are an example for all of us in resisting the enemy and rebuilding our country,» emphasized the director.
The book presentation took place as part of the capital's unity platform «Stronger Together».
The main character of the novel, like her prototype, fought in battles for Mariupol, Azovstal, Olenivka, and the prison in Taganrog. When asked where she drew her strength, this book provides the answer.
According to the author, Lyudmyla Okhrimenko, this is her second book dedicated to Ukrainian defenders. During the presentation, she thanked Tetyana Teplyuk for her patience and cooperation.
«Let's work together to protect our beautiful land! To defend it! So much young blood has already been shed for it, blood from people who should be building the country, yet they stepped up as shields for its defense. We see how great our warriors are — both men and women. We are a wonderful and beautiful nation,» said Tetyana Teplyuk.
Lyudmyla Okhrimenko's novel «Kreshchena,» winner of the international competition «Coronation of the Word -2021,» is available in all libraries of the capital and is not for sale.
