“Unbreakable Spirit: GUR Veterans Conquer the Himalayas” is a new documentary film that redefines the possibilities of human achievement.

On May 31, 2025, the premiere of Roman Bebekh's film took place in Kyiv, highlighting incredible willpower.

This story revolves around dignity, brotherhood, and the will to live.

The central figures are veterans of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Ivan Tarn (“Artan”) and Oleksandr Dashko (“Kraken”), who ascended the Himalayas, reaching the Everest base camp (5280 m) as part of the Limitless project.

“Climbing Everest was symbolic for me. A great journey has been completed, but ahead lies the peak of victory. This is a good opportunity to show society what our brothers are doing at the front. If we could achieve this, imagine what they do every day,” said Ivan Tarn.

Oleksandr Dashko reminded that the ascent in the Himalayas was a serious challenge.

“This climb should be seen by other guys with amputations. They need to know: life continues after amputation,” emphasized the veteran.

The film's creator, journalist Roman Bebekh, documented the entire mountain journey undertaken by the veterans.

“It was hard for everyone. We all felt pressure — both atmospheric and physical. But we managed,” he said.

Professional climbers who accompanied Ivan and Oleksandr during the expedition also participated in the premiere. The group moved for 10-11 hours each day.

“Honestly, I didn't believe that Sasha would make it. I doubted if we would succeed. But I had no questions about Ivan. I dreamed of someone like him. Thank you to the whole team! You are incredible!”, shared climber Tetyana Yalovchak.

Evgeniy Yerin, a representative of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, thanked the organizers of the Limitless project for their initiative and shared his impressions of the film.

“This is more than just climbing a mountain. It is a victory of spirit and willpower demonstrated by our brothers,” he said.

The goal of the Limitless project is to raise awareness about the issues faced by veterans with amputations and to collect 3 million hryvnias to combat phantom pain.

The project is implemented in collaboration with the UNBROKEN Ukraine rehabilitation center, with the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine supporting this initiative.
