The documentary film by the Ukrainian service of "Radio Free Europe" about the horrific events in Bucha during the Russian occupation has been awarded a gold medal at the New York Festivals 2025.
This film is a winner in the "Human Rights" category, according to "Radio Free Europe".
"Bucha. The Murder of Defender Oleksiy Pobigay" is a continuation of the investigation by journalist Dmytro Juliay, which thoroughly covers the mass killings that occurred in Bucha in March 2022.
The film explores the circumstances of the shootings and names the Russian soldiers who may be involved in the execution of local defender Oleksiy Pobigay.
The winners were announced on the evening of May 22 during the virtual Storytellers gala in New York.
This year’s awardees in various categories included media outlets such as Al Jazeera English, Voice of America, ABCTV, PBS, BBC, Deutsche Welle, and others.
It is worth mentioning that at the end of March 2025, the film by Ukrainian director Myroslav Chernov "2000 Meters to Andriivka" also received an award at the CPH:DOX documentary film festival in Denmark.
