On April 29, the Ukrainian government approved a new bill concerning tax reporting for operators of digital platforms. This includes online services that offer services such as taxi rides, real estate rentals, and marketplaces.

This was announced by government representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Taras Melnychuk.

According to the document released by the deputy head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Tax and Customs Policy, Yaroslav Zheleznyak, digital platform operators will be recognized as tax agents and will automatically withhold taxes from citizens earning income from selling goods or providing services through these platforms.

The tax rate is set at 5%, with an additional 5% military levy.

This applies to various types of activities conducted by sellers through the platform for compensation:

  • renting real estate, including residential and non-residential properties, as well as other real estate and parking spaces;
  • providing personal services;
  • selling goods;
  • renting vehicles.

It is anticipated that the tax rate could reach 18% if annual income exceeds the established limit of 834 minimum wages.
