European Commissioner for Defense Andrius Kubilius stated that denying Ukraine NATO membership will only facilitate Russia's planning of its next aggressive actions.

Kubilius made this remark on platform X, as reported by "European Truth".

He pointed out that Russia demands that Ukraine not be granted NATO membership not because it fears an attack from the Alliance's territory.

"Russia fears that NATO will protect Ukraine from its next aggression. The absence of NATO for Ukraine makes it easier for Russia to plan its aggression," – he emphasized.

Recently, Donald Trump reiterated his earlier claims that Ukraine allegedly provoked the war by seeking NATO membership.

Earlier, media reported that the Trump administration handed Ukraine a one-page document in Paris, presented as a "final proposal" for a peace settlement. Among other things, the U.S. was willing to recognize Russian control over Crimea and ease sanctions against Moscow.

President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on April 24 that the U.S. proposed its strategy regarding Ukrainian territories during talks in London, but, according to him, another document appeared after the U.S. proposal.
