As of the morning of April 21, electricity consumption in Ukraine is reported to be 12.6% lower than the previous working day, April 18.

Nek “Ukrenergo” announced on Facebook that electricity consumption continues to decrease, as reported by Ukrinform.

“Today, April 21, as of 9:30 AM, the level of electricity consumption was 12.6% lower than the previous working day — Friday. This is due to a non-working day declared by some employers,” the agency quoted the company’s statement.

Additionally, sunny and warm weather throughout Ukraine contributes to the reduction of electricity consumption from the grid.

Ukrenergo advises shifting active energy use to periods of optimal solar power station operation and to use high-powered devices between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

It is important to note that a week ago, on April 15, the heating season for 2024/2025 officially ended in Ukraine.

Heat supply has been halted in all regions; however, several social institutions — hospitals, kindergartens, and schools — will continue to receive heating media under certain temperature conditions.

How many times has Russia attacked Ukraine's energy system during the heating season?

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that the third heating season was successfully completed despite numerous Russian attacks on the energy system.

According to him, during the 2024/2025 heating season, Russia executed 9 large-scale and dozens of smaller attacks against the Ukrainian energy system.

“Despite all this, we stood firm. In the homes of millions of Ukrainians, in schools and hospitals, there was light and heat. Our businesses also operated without significant restrictions,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
