The mobile app "Kyiv Digital" has launched a new feature allowing users to find and adopt homeless pets. This service consolidates information from all shelters in the capital.

Project manager Yulia Ustych announced this during a briefing.

A new section titled "Pet Adoption" has appeared on the Kyiv service portal, where users can apply filters to narrow their search by age, gender, and type of pet.

By clicking on a pet's card, users can view its photos and detailed information. There are also data about where the pet is located and contact information for its caregiver.

Those interested in adopting can click the "Offer Home" button, which will notify the caregiver of the adoption request.

The review of the adoption application takes up to three days. Once approved, interested adopters will be notified about the opportunity to meet the pet.

The transfer of the homeless pet will be carried out according to the shelter's rules from which it is being adopted.

Additionally, the "Kyiv Digital" app offers a feature to save or share the pet’s profile.

Currently, the app features profiles of hundreds of pets, including 32 cats and 68 dogs.

According to Oleksandr Voznyi, the head of the Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation Department of the Kyiv City Administration, over 7,000 animals are currently housed in Kyiv's shelters.

"This number is constantly increasing, especially due to military actions. Volunteers and military personnel bring in animals that can be rescued almost daily, and they try to find homes for them in relatively safe Kyiv," he said.

He added that the adoption option is available not only to Kyiv residents but also to people from other cities and foreigners.

"We urge people to adopt animals instead of buying them, especially those who have lost their homes and are in shelters," emphasized Oleksandr Voznyi.
