Details: On Thursday, it was revealed that the transport visa-free agreement has been extended until the end of the current year.
Shmyhal stated that Ukrainian freight carriers will no longer require special permits.
This marks the fourth extension of the agreement, highlighting its effectiveness.
Ukrainian exports to the EU via road have increased by 42%, while imports have risen by 37%. "The transport visa-free regime is part of Ukraine's sectoral integration into Europe and a precondition for our EU membership," he added.
Notably, the agreement on freight transportation signed on June 29, 2022, was a demonstration of the EU's solidarity with Ukraine in response to Russia's full-scale invasion.
This agreement, commonly referred to as the "transport visa-free regime", allows Ukrainian carriers to perform commercial routes to the EU under simplified conditions, without quotas and individual permits that were previously required.
Additionally, Ukraine anticipates that the EU will continue the current trade liberalization mechanism until the end of 2025, until an alternative proposal is developed.
