On April 7, a Nissan Leaf owned by a 67-year-old physician was completely destroyed by fire in Kyiv. Authorities have charged a suspect with arson.

According to Araik Kochadamyan, head of the Holosiivskyi police department, a 36-year-old resident of Kirovohrad region is implicated in the crime.
Quote: "The suspect arrived in the capital with a pre-prepared canister of gasoline. While near the vehicle belonging to the 67-year-old doctor, he doused it with a flammable substance and set it on fire. After igniting the car, the perpetrator attempted to flee but was apprehended nearby the crime scene."
Police arrested the arsonist, confiscating a lighter and a canister of flammable liquid from him. The motive for the crime is currently being investigated.
Additionally, it was found that during his escape, the suspect used force against a witness and threatened him.
On these grounds, investigators, under the procedural guidance of the Holosiivskyi District Prosecutor's Office, have charged him with committing criminal offenses under Part 2 of Article 194 (intentional destruction of someone else's property by arson) and Article 129 (threat of murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being resolved. He faces up to ten years in prison for his actions.
