This year, Belgium is set to provide Ukraine with a financial aid package of 1 billion euros, and will allocate the same amount annually for military support during its term in office.

This information was announced by Belgium's Prime Minister Bart De Wever during a joint press conference with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv, as reported by a correspondent from Ukrinform.

Details of Belgium's Assistance to Ukraine

“I am pleased to be here and announce that our new government has decided to continue our humanitarian support.

Our Foreign Minister Maxim Prevo is here, as well as our Minister of Defense, who proudly announced a new aid package of 1 billion euros for 2025, with the ambition of providing at least 1 billion euros in bilateral military assistance each year during my term. Our ministry has several initiatives planned for the near future,” the Prime Minister stated.

De Wever highlighted the strong interest in establishing Belgian defense manufacturing in Ukraine, also announcing the signing of four relevant contracts today.

“We need to help Ukraine build its own defense capabilities and also rearm Europe against the new aggression from Russia.

I believe we should collaborate to see how our private sector can be interested in investing in Ukraine and developing opportunities for our defense industry,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
