The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Ukraine has reacted to comments made by U.S. Congresswoman of Ukrainian descent, Victoria Spartc, who suggested that Ukraine should “come to terms” with the loss of territories.
Spokesperson Georgiy Tikhiy emphasized that “all our lands have always been and will remain Ukrainian”.
The MFA's response came after Spartc's interview with The Telegraph, where she stated that Ukrainians should “accept the transfer of their territories to Russia” and expressed confusion over Ukraine's demands to retain all its territories.
“Unlike Victoria, all our lands have always been and will remain Ukrainian,” Tikhiy noted.
It is worth mentioning that Spartc's position from the Republican Party on supporting Ukraine has changed. Initially a strong supporter of aid at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, last year she voted against a $61 billion aid package, accusing the Ukrainian government of corruption without evidence.
President Zelensky stated that there will be no winners on the battlefield in the war in Ukraine.
In February, a meeting took place in Ankara between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
President Zelensky mentioned that no side will win this war through military means, but he stressed that the transition to diplomacy should “lead to a just peace”.
The issue of territories occupied by Russia remains a key problem in resolving the war in Ukraine.
Trump's special envoy stated that the goal of negotiations between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia is to achieve a 30-day ceasefire, which Russia systematically violates.
Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that the 30-day ceasefire depends on a strong response from the U.S. to Russia's attempts to stall negotiations.
