Gitanas Nausėda, the President of Lithuania, expressed hope that the trade conflict between the United States and the European Union can be resolved through prompt negotiations.

He stated this in an interview with the Lithuanian broadcaster LRT, as reported by "European Truth".

Nausėda emphasized that "this economic turmoil, if one could call it that, should end with swift negotiations aimed at minimizing losses".

"I have repeatedly pointed out that there are no winners in this economic dispute, regardless of who initiated it. This has been proven throughout history on multiple occasions, and the outcome has always been the same", – noted the Lithuanian leader.

It is worth mentioning that amidst rising tensions in trade between the USA and the EU, on Tuesday, March 25, in Washington, the head of the EU Trade Representation Maroš Šefčovič will meet with his American counterparts – US Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick and US Trade Representative Jameson Greer.

At the beginning of March, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imported into the USA from around the world.

In response, the European Commission announced on March 12 that it would impose tariffs on iconic American products such as Harley-Davidson motorcycles, jeans, and bourbon.

When Trump threatened to impose 200% tariffs on all "wines, champagne, and alcoholic products" from France and other EU countries the following day, the European Commission delayed its countermeasures until mid-April.
