The mobile operator "Kyivstar" is set to implement new rules for extending number validity for its subscribers from February 6, 2026.

According to the operator, these changes aim to maintain number activity among subscribers and simplify mobile service conditions.

The updated rules involve a new mechanism for preserving active numbers, including the introduction of a suspended state.

The total number validity remains at 365 days, but now it is divided into two stages:

  • During the first 274 days from the last top-up or tariff payment, the number will remain active, and subscribers will have access to all services;
  • The next stage is a suspended state for an additional 91 days; during this time, subscribers will receive SMS reminders to top up their accounts and avoid deactivation; while in this state, they can top up and make calls to service numbers; to restore full functionality, a top-up of at least 30 UAH is required.

To extend the validity of their numbers, subscribers can choose from several options. The simplest method is to top up their account with a minimum payment of 30 UAH. Another option is to pay for a basic service package for four weeks or a month, or to use a daily service package. For those on annual or semi-annual plans, the validity is automatically extended with each package renewal.

It is reported that certain financial transactions do not affect the extension of number validity. These include services like "Extra Money" and transferring funds to other subscribers. Such transactions are not counted as actions to maintain number activity.

To check the current validity of their number, subscribers can use the USSD request *114# or view the information in the "Profile" section of the "My Kyivstar" mobile app. These tools provide quick access to the current status of the number and help prevent deactivation.

As previously mentioned, the independent French company nPerf recently studied the home internet offerings from Vodafone and "Kyivstar" in 2025, determining that Vodafone provides better services to Ukrainians. According to the study, Vodafone boasts a higher average download speed of 200.48 Mbps compared to 109.04 Mbps for "Kyivstar". Upload speeds were also higher — 196.4 Mbps against 127.8 Mbps.
