The fifth phase of «Hansen Village» has been inaugurated in the Kyiv region, aimed at families from frontline territories. Nearly 500 families from Kherson, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy are already residing here.
In Tarasivka, a multi-apartment building for families from conflict zones, a dormitory for evacuees, an IT academy space, and a recovery shelter for women who have experienced horrific crimes have been completed. This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine, Oleksii Kuleba.
Almost 500 families are now living in the village.
«We have communicated extensively with the residents, and it has been repeatedly mentioned that this project is not just about housing. It’s about restoring inner strength, feeling secure, and having the opportunity to rebuild one’s life. Such initiatives lay the foundation for community recovery, support individuals, and restore hope,» emphasized Oleksii Kuleba.
He recalled Mr. Hansen's visit to Kyiv region in spring 2023, during which they first discussed the importance of constructing housing for those who lost their homes. Only eight months passed from that visit to the opening of the first completed residential complexes, and by the end of the year, the first families from frontline areas were moving into their new homes.
According to Oleksii Kuleba, in two years, the Charity Hansen Ukrainian Mission Foundation has expanded its project to Sofiivska Borshchahivka, Kolonshchyna, Moshchun, Andriivka, Buzova, and the Makariv community. This amounts to over 900 residences housing approximately 4000 internally displaced persons.
«Collaboration continues. This summer, Mr. Hansen and I launched a new project — the construction of another village in the settlement of Hlevakha in the Kyiv region. We are currently finalizing the design of the settlement, and construction will begin soon. This will consist of 720 housing units,— announced Oleksii Kuleba. — It is also important to integrate government programs into similar initiatives by philanthropists. For instance, nearly 130 families have already been able to purchase housing in the villages thanks to the eRestoration certificates.
I am grateful to Hansen for our joint efforts. This project demonstrates that the combination of government tools and partner support yields real results for people. Such cooperation creates new recovery models and opens opportunities for those most affected by the war.»
As a reminder, a year ago, the second phase of Hansen Village for elderly displaced persons was opened in the village of Kolonshchyna. The accommodations are comfortable, private, and offered free of charge for a lifetime.
