The government has made a decision that permits customs and border control to be conducted directly in train cars, eliminating lengthy stops at the border. This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
"This format is already functioning in certain Intercity+ trains heading to Poland. Customs officers and border guards begin passenger checks while the train approaches the border," she noted.
Now, according to her, there are plans to gradually extend this practice to sleeping cars on night international routes.

This regime will be implemented in the following trains:

  • Kiev — Przemyśl
  • Kiev — Chełm

"We expect to launch expedited control in motion in select trains starting in January, and then we will scale this up to other trains in these directions," Svyrydenko informed.
