On November 7, Ukraine was elected to the Executive Board of UNESCO for the 2025–2029 term with the highest number of votes. President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this via Telegram.
"Together with Romania and Moldova, we outperformed Russia: this is the second consecutive time that Moscow has failed to enter the Council," Zelensky stated.
He expressed gratitude to the member states that supported Ukraine's candidacy.
"Alongside our partners, we will utilize all the opportunities provided by UNESCO to restore life, protect our culture, heritage, and people. We will ensure that all forms of Russian aggression—whether war or hybrid threats—receive a proper response. There is no alternative to peace. It's time for Moscow to realize this," Zelensky emphasized.
