Due to financial losses, Ukrainian Railways is planning to implement dynamic pricing for first-class tickets on the 'Intercity' routes and SV cars. This was stated by Sergey Leshchenko, a member of the supervisory board of UZ, during his speech in the Verkhovna Rada.
"We intend to raise dynamic pricing for SV class cars and first-class 'Intercity' tickets. This may improve the financial results, but it won't completely resolve the issues," he emphasized.
As reported, the net loss of UZ for the first nine months of 2025 was 7.1 billion UAH. The losses from passenger transport in 2024 amounted to 18 billion UAH.
To stabilize the situation, Leshchenko suggested not only raising ticket prices but also internal optimization, including the sale of scrap metal, which is expected to generate up to 10 billion UAH. Compensation from the state budget for passenger transport losses is estimated at 16 billion UAH.
Additionally, he expressed the intention to gradually index freight tariffs in two stages - initially by 27%, followed by 11%. Considering producers' price increases, this could yield about 22 billion UAH.
