The Security Service of Ukraine has unveiled its latest unmanned maritime drones known as 'Sea Baby', which have already proven their effectiveness in operations in the Black Sea. These platforms were notably involved in the third strike on the Crimean Bridge that took place on June 3, 2025.
"Our drones have shifted the balance of power in the Black Sea and demonstrated their effectiveness. The new generation of 'Sea Baby' is even more powerful. Therefore, we will continue the operation to cleanse the Black Sea of the Russian fleet. The enemy will feel the strength of our technological advancements," stated SBU head Lieutenant General Vasyl Maliuk.
Brigadier General Ivan Lukashevich, known as 'Hunter', mentioned that during this year's strike on the Crimean Bridge, the 'sea babies' delivered explosives to the target, which destroyed the illegal structure's supports.
The new modifications of 'Sea Baby' were funded by contributions from Ukrainians on the UNITED24 fundraising platform.
According to one of the leaders of the military counterintelligence of the SBU overseeing the operations of the 13th Main Directorate of the Defense Intelligence, 'Hunter', the updated drones can cover distances over 1500 km, carry up to 2000 kg of cargo, and are equipped with enhanced engines and modern navigation systems.
The SBU development team showcased two drones with different armaments. The first is equipped with a gyro-stabilized machine gun system with target acquisition and recognition capabilities, while the second carries heavy weaponry: a 10-tube Grad multiple rocket launcher.
"The SBU is the ideologist of a new type of naval warfare. We are continuously seeking effective means to maintain Ukraine's advantage in the Black Sea. President Volodymyr Zelensky's task is to neutralize the formidable Russian naval fleet. We are actively working on this," emphasized Ivan Lukashevich.
The Security Service is constantly developing other samples of advanced weaponry and has already successfully deployed them in the Black Sea. However, detailed information regarding these assets remains undisclosed.
It is important to note that the active use of unmanned platforms by Ukraine has forced Russia to redeploy most of its military vessels to the Novorossiysk bay, enabling the unblocking of the 'grain corridor'.
