The unexpected drop in temperature and the delay in the start of the heating season in Ukraine have resulted in a significant increase in electricity consumption nationwide – by over 20% compared to the beginning of the month, said the chairman of the board of «Ukrenergo» Vitaliy Zaichenko.
«We hope that within the next ten days, heating supply will be ensured across the entire territory of Ukraine, which will lead to a decrease in electricity consumption. Many consumers are currently heating their homes using electricity – through air conditioners and heaters», – he stated during a telethon.
According to him, over the last seven years, residential consumers have become the largest electricity users in Ukraine, so changing their behavior can significantly help stabilize the situation – primarily regarding the reduction of the use of powerful electrical appliances during peak system load times.
