A new memorial dedicated to military chaplains has been unveiled at the Alley of Defenders of Ukraine, near the Freedom Arch in Kyiv. The event took place on October 12, recognized as Military Chaplain Day.
“This new sign represents our deep gratitude and respect for the sacrificial service of military clergy, who are always beside the soldiers, offering support through words, prayers, and faith. It immortalizes the contribution of military chaplains in defending Ukraine and countering the aggression of the Russian Federation,” stated the Military Chaplaincy Service of the Armed Forces.
Among the attendees were government officials, officers from the chaplaincy service, chaplains of various denominations, military personnel, artists from the cultural community, and residents and visitors of the capital. After the ceremony, an interfaith prayer service for Ukraine took place at St. Sophia Cathedral.
“On this sunny autumn day, participants honored all military chaplains—those who stand daily with soldiers, providing spiritual support and faith in Ukraine’s victory,” the chaplaincy service reported.
