The Ukrainian government has adopted a new resolution that will significantly enhance access to open data through the implementation of a unified portal.
This was reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
«Open data refers to information collected and provided by government bodies in a user-friendly format, excluding any confidential information. This can include data on finances, transportation, education, healthcare, and business registration. Now, all the most significant data of public value will be compiled into an updated database», the statement reads.
This initiative will enable citizens, businesses, and NGOs to more effectively find the necessary information and utilize it for analysis, service development, or oversight of government activities.
The updated requirements will also improve the quality of data handling by government agencies. They will receive clear instructions on how to upload information to the unified open data portal, enhancing its accessibility for the public while reducing the risk of abuse by officials.
Additionally, it was noted that the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, YouControl, and the NGO «Open Data Association» signed a memorandum of cooperation in the fields of statistics, analytics, and digitalization.
