A new communication technology called Starlink Direct to Cell has been successfully tested in Ukraine, allowing satellite communication directly without the need for additional equipment; only a SIM card and 4G are required.

This was reported by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on her Telegram channel.

"Ukraine is among the first countries in the world to implement the Starlink Direct to Cell technology — direct satellite communication without antennas. The testing was conducted by First Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov and CEO of Kyivstar Oleksandr Komarov. In the fall of 2025, Kyivstar plans to launch the first phase — the ability to send SMS from secure locations in Ukraine. During wartime, when the enemy deliberately targets energy and communication infrastructures, this technology is not just a matter of convenience but also of security," she noted.
