President Volodymyr Zelensky has declared his intention to introduce a new bill to the Verkhovna Rada aimed at strengthening the law enforcement system in Ukraine and ensuring the independence of anti-corruption agencies.

This was stated in his video address on social media.

Direct quote: "Of course, many have heard what people are saying these days – on social media, among themselves, on the streets. This is not in vain. We have thoroughly analyzed all concerns and aspects that need to be changed and activated.

I intend to propose a bill to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine that will respond to these challenges and strengthen the law enforcement system. There will be no Russian influence on the activities of law enforcement agencies, and, importantly, all norms for the independence of anti-corruption institutions will be preserved. I also expect proposals from the leaders of law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, as well as from the Prosecutor General of Ukraine regarding the norms that need to be implemented. This will be a presidential bill, and we will carry it out within the framework of our state transformation strategy."

According to the president, during a recent meeting with heads of law enforcement and anti-corruption agencies, they agreed to create a joint action plan and "specific steps" that could "strengthen the rule of law in Ukraine."
