Ukraine is set to become the first European nation to introduce mobile Starlink services. Messaging features are expected to launch by the end of this year, while mobile satellite broadband access is projected for mid-2026.

This was reported by Reuters, citing Alexander Komarov, CEO of Kyivstar.

Field trials have already commenced as part of an agreement signed in late 2024 with Space. This will enable Elon Musk's company to provide direct communication services to mobile phones in Ukraine.

The communication will be facilitated through satellites equipped with modems, functioning like cellular towers, transmitting phone signals directly from space to smartphones.

"The first phase involves messaging via OTT technologies like WhatsApp and Signal," Komarov stated to Reuters in Rome.

He added that this will be implemented by the end of the year.

"And likely in early 2026, let's be cautious, in the second quarter of 2026, we will be able to offer mobile satellite broadband for data and voice," the Kyivstar director concluded.
