Ukraine has officially established unified guidelines for transporting animals on intercity and international buses. This initiative is a collaboration between the government and UAnimals, addressing numerous requests from travelers and pet owners.

How should animals be transported?

  • Small animals (up to 10 kg) – cats, dogs, birds, or rodents – must travel in containers or bags with absorbent bottoms. They can be held in hands, placed under seats, or on a separately purchased seat next to the owner.
  • Medium and large dogs (10–45 kg) must be on a leash, muzzled, and on a mat on the floor. A seat next to them must be purchased. They are not allowed to sit on chairs.
  • Dogs over 45 kg will travel according to the individual rules set by the carrier, in specially equipped transport.
  • Guide dogs always travel for free, without needing to purchase a seat, alongside the person they assist. They must be muzzled and on a short leash.

In all cases, having a veterinary document is mandatory.
