A major crisis regarding fuel customs clearance has emerged at the Ukrainian border. Since June 24, market participants have reported delays with fuel trucks.
This information comes from the industry publication enkorr.
An insider at the Energy Customs office stated that the delays are caused by a malfunction in the interaction between the State Customs and the Tax Service's information systems.
"The State Customs has a program that automatically connects to the tax database to verify the existence of a license – a mandatory condition for customs clearance. This connection has been disrupted. The system cannot see the license – and thus does not allow the cargo to be processed," he explained.
It is expected that the connection between the systems will be restored soon.
In addition to the technical issues in Ukraine, problems on the Polish side have complicated the situation. According to carriers, the customs system in Poland also experienced a failure.
"The software on the Polish side froze, and it just resumed operation an hour ago. During this time, only 15 trucks were processed," reported one trader.
