The European Union and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are set to assist in the enhancement of the Ukrainian project «eQueue», designed to streamline border crossings.
The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine announced the successful agreements.
The EU will help extend the eQueue system to include passenger vehicles and integrate it with state registries.
Under the agreement, the EU will finance project maintenance through the IOM and will also engage specialists for further improvement and scaling.
According to Deputy Minister Serhiy Derkach, this support will enable the implementation of a plan to optimize the system for a more predictable border crossing experience.
Among the planned actions are the integration of the eQueue with other state registries and ensuring priority passage for certain categories of vehicles.
Improvements will affect not only the service for freight trucks and buses but also a pilot project expanding to include passenger cars.
One of the priorities is also the installation of automatic monitoring cameras at border crossing points.
eQueue for drivers: how to register and cross the border without waiting in line.
«eQueue» is a digital tool that allows carriers to register in an electronic queue and track its progress online, eliminating the need for physical waiting at the border.
The system is currently mandatory for all trucks and buses departing from Ukraine, and since its launch, it has been used for over 2 million border crossings.
